Please pray for my sister and her beloved dog, Lulu.

Lulu is a 14-year-old Chihuahua and has been my sister's companion for her entire life. In recent months, Lulu has lost a significant amount of weight and is now extremely frail. She also has a collapsed trachea that causes her to struggle with coughing, and my sister is concerned that she may also be experiencing congestive heart failure.

It is becoming apparent that she may soon have to make one of the hardest decisions a loving pet owner can face—knowing when it is time to let Lulu go. She loves Lulu deeply, and I know how difficult it is to consider saying goodbye to someone who has been part of your life for 14 years. We live in a world where we are taught to fight to preserve life at almost any cost, so choosing to let a beloved pet go can feel completely contrary to that instinct, even when we know that continuing to hold on may mean prolonging their suffering.

Please pray that God gives her wisdom to recognize when the time has come. Pray that He gives her the strength and conviction to put Lulu’s comfort and well-being ahead of her own heartache. If that difficult decision comes, please pray that Lulu will be surrounded by love, comfort, and peace, and that she will feel no fear.

Please also pray for my sister after that day comes. The loss will hurt deeply. Pray that, in time, God will replace that pain with peace and the assurance that she did the loving and compassionate thing for Lulu. And please pray that God reminds her of something important: Lulu had a wonderful life because she was loved by her.

Lord, please be with my sister and her pet in these days. Give my sister wisdom, courage, peace, and comfort. Let Lulu feel safe and loved, and when the time comes, let her pass peacefully and without fear. Amen.
